A journey in character
Step into another story.
Three public acting experiments. Three very different lives approached through observation, movement and empathy.
The journey
A role can open a door to understanding.
For Ashish, these experiments took acting beyond rehearsal. Each character asked him to be present in public, notice the world around him and learn from the distance between a role and a real life.
These are portrayals created for acting experiments. In particular, a role portraying a transgender character cannot stand in for transgender people's lived experiences. The intention is to approach each story with dignity, curiosity and respect.
Public experiment · Thamel
Seen. Judged. Human.
In Thamel, Ashish portrayed a transgender character in a real-life public acting experiment. Stepping into the role invited reflection on visibility, dignity and the assumptions that can shape a brief encounter. It was one artist's experiment—not a claim to represent the lives of transgender people.
A silent-language study
A little mischief. A lot of heart.
Inspired by Charlie Chaplin, Ashish explored how gesture, rhythm and a searching glance can tell a story without words. Bringing the character into public spaces made every movement a conversation—and every smile a small connection.
A study in compassion
What do we notice when we hurry past?
For this public experiment, Ashish portrayed a person asking for help. The role placed him among the everyday movement of the city and turned attention toward a quiet question: when someone is struggling, do we see a person—or only a passing moment?
A new chapter is coming
Acting classes at HOZANA—coming soon.
These experiments have shaped Ashish's journey as a performer. Soon, he hopes to share that practice with students through acting classes built around character, expression, observation and empathy.
